Six Sigma Aligned with Business Planning

Key Concepts:

  • Get started quickly; define: scope, objectives, roles, tools, methodologies, and ground rules to be used, including amount of corporate culture shock will be encouraged and tolerated.

  • Be customer focused, process focused, and employee focused.

  • Focus on strategic, costly and/or high-impact low-performance processes for dramatic improvement.

  • DMAIC - Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control.

  • Use competitor benchmarking to raise competitive juices.

  • Multiple regression analysis .... F ratio.... etc.

  • Team Leader - Black Belt or Green Belt

  • Internal Consultant - Master Black Belt

  • Project Sponsor - the Project Team Champion

  • Align Six Sigma roles with organizational roles with reward systems, whenever possible.

  • E-Business Wednesday program. It is often useful to have a pre-defined meeting day set on a regular basis, either weekly, bi-monthly, monthly, or any other regularly set time. This helps create a tradition, right from the start. Initially, the first week of a new program can and should have extra meeting to get started and to ensure that all the participants get to know each other well in their new roles.
