Systems Architecture Issues
View
Template for: Information Technology Issues - Architecture
The purpose of this section is to highlight and to discuss
current and future systems architecture issues in order to ensure that the
business is effectively leveraging information technology. This section also
helps to focus the information systems area on those issues important to the
business.
In practice, business managers should spend at least one day each year
catching up on advances in information technology and to consider how the
activities of the business (the value chain) can be redesigned and improved by
employing new advances in information technology.
For a more detailed discussion on building an I/T architecture based on the
firm's business vision and business strategies, see Richard
L. Nolan and Dennis W. Mulryan, "Undertaking an Architecture Program,"
Stage by Stage, Vol. 7, Number 2 (March-April, 1987).
