The 60-Second Industry Analysis
& Competitive Positioning

The "60-Second Industry Analysis and Competitive Positioning Analysis" is simple yet effective.

It begins with the starting point of any industry analysis. That is, an evaluation of the industry attractiveness.

Second, identify the industry's most successful competitor along with its strategy and expected results. This highlights the essence of competitive strategy: that different competitors with different strategies will have different results.

Third, identify the expected profitability of your business and why those returns are different from the industry's returns and the returns of the most successful industry competitor.

Fourth, begin to link strategy with implementation by identifying the most important task that needs to be performed.

And fifth, articulate the most important message that should be communicated to customers.
