Corporate (Group) Strategy Development

Corporate (group) strategy development involves the concept of maximizing the value of two or more business units.

This can best be done using the following three constructs:

A. Corporate vision and corporate objectives -
setting the corporate direction and corporate objectives in priority order.
B. Business mix selection -
deciding which businesses to compete in:
- the common sense point of view
- the financial analyst point of view
- the industry analyst point of view
- the strategic planning analyst point of view
C. Horizontal strategies -
establishing policies, procedures and activities which cut across multiple business units.
