Implementing Corporate Projects Aligned with Corporate Strategies

Managing a portfolio of projects and e-business solutions requires leadership, holistic planning, and teamwork. 

Many companies today have one or more web sites, intranets, and extranets that have been built with other than a solid business and technical foundation to support future requirements.

The decision-making process for spending IT-related funds is moving back to the obvious. That is,  company executives have rediscovered that IT expenditures (like other expenditures) should be well thought out and consistent with company and business unit objectives. 

With the clear overarching goal of developing an e-business and website strategy that is consistent with the strategies of the business, the task is still not easy. However, with the proper strategic framework, the many business and technical challenges and conflicting priorities can be easily ranked and weighed for appropriate decision making.

The CEO is the best person to champion the concept that technology and information sharing across business silos is in the best interest of the company, but general managers, the corporate planner, the senior market manager, and the CIO can also help drive the obvious.
