Unique Design of the Workbook
Structured Strategic Planning
[Note: the workbook is individually bound in a plastic cover at
Alphagraphics.]
CHAPTER 1
Presents an overview of key concepts in business strategic planning. The
chapter is organized as a full slide presentation with commentary at the
bottom of each page.
CHAPTER 2
Describes how to develop a Business Unit Competitive Strategy. The chapter
is divided into two parts. All of the left-hand pages taken together form the
Strategic Business Unit (SBU) template document. To facilitate the completion
of the SBU document, each of the right-hand pages presents a discussion on the
specific material on the opposite, left-hand page.
CHAPTER 3
Describes how to develop a Horizontal Unit (cost center) Statement of
Direction. This chapter is also divided into two parts and uses the same
format as Chapter 2. All of the left-hand pages taken together form the
Strategic Horizontal Unit (SHU) template document. In order to facilitate the
completion of the SHU document, each of the right-hand pages presents a
discussion on the specific material on the opposite, left-hand page.
CHAPTER 4
Describes how to develop a Corporate (or Group) Strategy. This chapter
continues the two-part format. In this case, all of the left-hand pages taken
together form the Corporate (Group) template document.
CHAPTER 5
Discusses implementation.
APPENDIX A
Provides a strategic planning glossary.
APPENDIX B
Provides a list of strategic planning and information technology
abbreviations.
